For a city as complex, diverse, multi-cultural and global as Bangalore, a new typology of entertainment is necessary. A site that is able to accommodate all types of performances ranging from drama, music and debate to experimental theatre. A site that can also provide a flexible venue, at the heart of the city, adjacent to Ulsoor Lake, for various festivals, whether religious or cultural. The existing colonial style buildings are adapted and reused. The landscaping of the central enclosure containing the existing buildings is framed by the new additions. A continuous audience-performer circulation loop runs through all the theatres enabling an immersive theatre experience.
